Whilst the hotel has quite a lot of problems it wasn,t all bad.it certainly wasn,t the 4 star hotel we were expecting our room was depressing to say the least. The food was superb and the drinks wonderful especially over in the garden restaurant. It will be interesting to see the refurb as it really does need it,the spa area and pool were really tatty. Hopefully we will return to see improvements.

I know the hotel (Escape Hotel & Spa) is now closed for refurb, but looking through some of these reports I think they must refer to another of the Escape group hotels. Some refer to something that definitely is NOT the EH&S but could be Tropical or The Gap (last review mentions beach dinner - not EH&S) Hard to determine!!

We would like to wish all the staff - especially Sandra, Kenny and Ronny - all the best for the coming months when the hotel will be closed for refurbishment, and to say that we look forward to seeing you all again in 2010.

Not what i would call a very nice place !!!!
We were due to go away on holiday at escape at the gap but 1 night before we were due to leave virgin told us we had been transfered to escape hotel and spa due to construction at escape at the gap. They assured us it was child friendly and that many other kids would be there but it turned out that half the hotel was adults only and they were about the only kids there!! So because of this i am giving this awfull hotel a bad write up.

We came here to get married last year. We were not sure what to expect after reading different reviews but it turned out to be the best holiday ever. We arrived late at night and a table was booked for our tea so we didn't miss out on food and the next day when we woke up refreshed we were welcomed with the beautiful scenery outside our window.
Food was delicious and you never went hungry or thirsty. They even put on snacks in the afternoon at aroung 4pm which is worth knowing about if you get a bit peckish.
The beach was beautiful with a beach bar at hand. Snorkells, canoes and catamarans are available to take out for a bit of fun. The snorkelling is well worth a go as the fish you see are amazing. A local boat trip was also available with the hotel on a Sunday. He was great and took you along the coast to go swimming with the turtles. This is a great experience and you don't need to be able to swim.
There is a spa and large pool across the road. This is very peaceful with co

what more could i ask for, a beautiful bijoux hotel nestling next to a white sanded beach where i could watch catch of the day being caught by local fishermen in their small boats, only a wade away from my table, bliss after the rush and rats of London!!! friendly ,polite and attentive staff, made me feel more than welcome,as a women of a certain age traveling alone i could not reccomend this hotel more highly,i felt safe and comfortable, with no hassles. I will most certainly return to Escape.

Just back from a week at the Escape Hotel & Spa. Our second visit and everything was beyond our expectations. My wife had an accident on the second day in the car park of the Spa section, spraining her ankle badly in a rainwater gully. The hotel staff were immediately on the scene and Cherri-Ann gave first-aid assistance and all the staff were constantly asking after my wife's condition. Sandra Bellman, Guest Services Manager, was really efficient and helpful. They recommended a medical centre in Holetown, which was excellent and everything was done to make the remaining stay at the hotel comfortable and enjoyable. Wheelchair access was a little difficult but help was always available. Super stay in a De Luxe room with everything superb.
A minor matter, it would be even better if it was Non-Smoking!

we stayed at the gap last month for one week, 2 adults 2 boys aged 6 and 8, we had a great time the Hotel was basic and worth the 3 stars, our room was extremely large with a separate bedroom for us, much bigger than expected clean and well kept by housekeeping staff. the food was good, the beach was amazing, water lovely and warm and plenty of beds and umbrellas, if you take a trip recommend the Turtle Man that comes on the beach, took us to the shipwreck and to swim with the turtles, it was far cheaper and far better than the hotel or virgin trip.

Just got back from a one week stay at Escape Hotel and Spa and one week cruise. We had an amazing time at the hotel, the food was excellent, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, especially Sandra and Marsha and the room was spotlessly clean. We had an ocean view with fabulous sunsets as well. If we had known how good this hotel was we would have stayed there for the fortnight and not bothered cruising. We can't wait to go again.

We stayed at this resort for the first time from the 14th Dec to the 28th Dec, in the Spa Rooms as it was adults only and our honeymoon.
The rooms were in need of repair as was the whole of the complex. The flooring and steps being tiled were a nightmare when wet and you could only walk on them safely if you had bare feet. The bed was old and needed replacing, plugs hanging off walls, the fan on our balcony did not work the whole of the holiday even though we reported it on the first day.
The restuarants you had to book for you evening meals for both of them. The breakfast was buffet, the lunchtime was buffet in the main building but for both there was not enough choice and that is not me being fussy but after two weeks it was terribly boring and the food was not of a standard you would expect from a 4* complex. The place to eat is in the Garden restuarant where the food is prepared as you order it but it took sometimes up to two and half hours from ordering to finishing and t

Just been to Escape hotel and spa for brothers wedding. Our room was fine with perfect Ocean view, however some other people in our party had very disapointing rooms with problems such as broken showers and leaking ceilings and toilets some of which were not fixed all week. Bride and groom were put in wrong room and had to move half way through week and one of party was in wrong room all week. Although the food was excellent and staff were on the whole helpful and friendly I didn't find the hotel very child friendly as there was no children's menu available for dinner and alot of facilties were Adult only meaning that we had to spend alot of the week seperate from the rest of our party and only had access to very small pool. The location was beautiful with gorgeous beach however I would not say that this hotel lived up to 4 star expectations.

About 20 of us went over for my sisters wedding and I’ll start with the good: The wedding was fantastic, the weather was gorgeous, the beach was lovely, the spa and pool was lovely and the food was excellent. The evening entertainment was fun and just like what you get at most hotels. The bar and the bar staff were nice. All the communal areas were nice. Those in our party who were in 1st floor and villa rooms had nice rooms.
And now with the not so good. Check in was so disorganized, not what you want after a day of travelling. I got put in the wrong room for a whole week and they didn’t notice until I checked out earlier than they expected . I did mention when I was given my check in pack that the name was wrong but no one really listened. I was meant to be in a much nicer room on the 1st floor so that was quite annoying. I had a room on the 4th in the main building floor as did 3 others in our party. All of these rooms were very tired and in honesty quite grotty (not what

Fantasic hotel, 12 of us went out 4 my brothers wedding, which was BRILLIANT.(definitely recommend this hotel 4 getting married).
We brought the kids and they loved it. The food was delicious, especially Cherlyl's EGGS. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an ocean view room which was lovely as you could watch the sunset from your room. I would definitely go back and bring the kids, I found the hotel very safe 4 kids and the staff couldnt do enough 4 you.

Just got back. Spent 3 weeks at the Escape. My second visit in 2 years, only this time, I married there (08/09/08). My new husband and I are chuffed to pieces! Cherry-Ann was fantastic, a true gem, and our wedding day was more than we could ever have asked for! The weather, setting, company and organisation was second to none! PERFECT! Sandra, as always was an absolute angel, and we will miss her very much. Our housekeeper, Julianna, couldn't have worked harder to make sure our stay was comfortable and clean. All the staff were incredibly friendly and polite, the food was phenomenal (as always) and the whole stay was magical! We will definately be returning within the next couple of years with the children, and again after that to celebrate anniversaries! I would absolutely recomend Escape Hotel and Spa to anyone! Thanks everyone for a trully special holiday! We both miss you all loads and will see you all again soon! xxx

Just wanted to say it will be a sad time when The Escape Hotel & Spa close for a year(?) next April/May 2009. Our thoughts will be for all the lovely staff who will have to find work elsewhere. I just hope the hotel does actually open as a hotel again and not apartments etc. You just cannot beat the view when you walk through the reception into the lounge looking out to the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

We had 10 days of heaven, ocean view to die for. It was the best holiday in yrs. Michelle and Kevin on reception were great, they kept us informed about our delay back far more than the rep (if you ever saw the rep). Island safari is a must, never laughed so much. You get use to the birds in the morning and frogs at night! Rally team did good too. Fabulous people, memories and photos, We will return.

We had the best time ever - getting married at the Escape & Spa was magical - we couldn't have wished for a better day. Our wedding co-ordinator, Cherry-Ann, was absolutely fantastic - she just made things happen !!! what a gem. We had 10 guests with us who all had such a great time and some are planning a return trip. We'll definitely be back to celebrate an anniversary (or two). Thank you soooo much to everyone there who made our wedding day and stay such a special time - we'll never forget it. We watch the video over and over just so we don't forget - how could we.

Loved the holiday overall, Food spot on, never fighting for a table at anytime and the set meals were truly 4* We where worried by the comments to the birds, but don't leave your table 'unmanned' and you're fine and the birds don't come out at night so your evening meal is 'bird free' We didn't know that our daughter couldn't use the pool in the Spa area and the other pool is small, but once we over came our initial disappointment everything else was great. Great beach and never a problem getting a spot on the beach. Book the glass bottom boat rather than the Rep excursions, its much better value and the rum punch is great. Will come back to this hotel.

My wife and i stayed at the Escape for 2 weeks to celebrate our aniverssary.
We had a fantastic time the spa side is a heaven the treatments are very good the pool great and the staff on the whole complex are great.
We thoroughly enjoyed the eating experience especially the garden resturant, where the food presentation was fantastic.
If you are going to explore the island by car try and stop at a place called cattlewash near to Bathsheba on the East coast, the beach is fabulous, take lots of suncream though because it is very windy but the sun is also very strong.
Going back again this July can't wait.

Together with my wife and two friends, we stayed at this hotel from 20th to 27th February 2008 with Virgin Holidays. The hotel, catering and all services were of the highest standard. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
The hotel is perfectly located and the sunsets were fabulous. The beach and beach bar were ideal, with the services of the hotel beach staff and the sea swimming excellent. The free catamaran excursion was great fun and the turtles were an experience to be remembered.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will try to go again. We had no complaints at all.

Just returned from a week at Escape and Spa with Virgin holidays and had a great time. Was very pleased with the hotel and setting. Virgin were great and the free catamaran trip was excellent with CJ! The superior room we were in was lovely; spacious and clean with a fantastic view. The only thing was that it was on the first floor, right over the lounge bar and was noisy at night. If you want to go to sleep early, then you need to be further away from the entertainment. However, it always finished by 10.30! The staff were very helpful and the atmosphere was friendly. I would recommend the place.

We have just made our 8th visit to the Escape Hotel & Spa and really enjoyed it. The staff (Sandra, Kenny, Wendell, Ronnie) and all the others, were fantastic. The food was really good and the rooms - as always, were kept very clean and replenished with clean towels etc daily.
The Beach was kept clean and there seemed to be enough chairs/umbrellas for everyone (its just a pity the beach was washed away which made things a little cramped at times - but that's nature doing it's thing!)
Thank you. Will return - again!

This isn't a review on the Escape Hotel & Spa but some sad news about one of it's regular visitors. Mrs MARGARET EGGINGTON - who died December 28th 2007. She visited the EH&S every year (Sept/Oct) with her sister, Brenda Pitt, since 1997, more often than not meeting up with the same people each year.
She will be sadly missed by the staff and her friends at the Escape.

Just home from our second visit to hotel and what can I say, everything was fantastic. The food was excellent, the cleanliness of the hotel is of a very high standard and the staff excell. We look forward to returning in the not too distant future and reaquainting ourselves with Ivor, Desiree, Alecia and Olivia. Our grandson James had the time of his life and has some wonderful memories to take with him into his future army life.

On arival we felt we were rushed as we had no time to freshen up after our flight before dinner 15mins before restuarant closed. Room was a top floor villa room, air con but one window was slatted wood with no netting so mossies and warm air would come in bites from mossies air con not very efficient.Bathroom window was the same with the added bonus of a huge curved gap at the top, this allowed birds to fly in, steal sugar, powdered milk from our room and occasionally leave part of themselves in our room, also this gap was a favorite entry point for mossies. however, we did ask if we could have a net to keep us protected from bites at night, but we were told none were available.Food was excelent for the first week, second week standards went downhill, we were told that the owners were on site for the first week, maybe this had a bearing on quality or lack of it.The garden restuarant was excellent but would benefit from a fan or some kind of airflow device, service and food in this restua

My husband and i have just returned from a fantastic week at escape at the gap. The hotel was fantastic and the staff were excellent. The rooms are nice, simply decorated and adequete for our needs and cleaned daily. The hotel staff were lovely, polite and friendly, always smiling and would happily joke around with the hotel guests. The food was lovely, a bit 'samey' especially if you were there two weeks, but it varied slightly at every mealtime (the macaroni cheese pie is delicious!)The a la carte restaurant is also very good, and the food is always perfect. We travelled with Virgin and our hotel rep was Shontelle. She is lovely, very chatty and bubbly, and any problems she would sort out for you straight away.
The beach is fantastic, right on the doorstep of the hotel. The beach staff are excellent, and we had a wonderful sail with Omar!
The whole island and hotel is absoulutely fantastic, and although we said we would never visit a country twice, this hotel has certainly cha

Just recently come back from Barbados where we stayed at the Escape Hotel & Spa for two weeks. I have to say me and my girlfriend were quite disapointed with some aspects of the hotel, mainly the dire entertainment that was put on, would of been ok if we were 60 or over! Nothing for the under 30 and you wouldnt expect an all inclusive hotel to say i quote "NO ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT GET OUT THERE AND HAVE SOME FUN". Also we stayed in a deluxe room which was not worth the extra £45 a night, the vendors on the beach wouldnt take no for an answer and just wouldnt leave us alone, its a shame because its such a beautiful beach. Some of the staff were rude, but finishing on a good point the food was pretty good especially the breakfasts and i had the best omelette ive ever tasted from the omelette lady,oh and the stray cats were v cute at evening meal in the seascape restaurant.

This hotel should not be rated by Virgin as 4-Star, it definitely isnt! Big holes in the plunge pool out side garden villa 6001,bathroom open to the elements, birds included, never any clean beach towels, some staff not bothered if they serve you or not.The one saving grace was The Garden Restaurant situated on the other side of what was a very busy road.
What a shame our first visit to Barbados will probably be our last.

Just got back from the worst holiday that we've ever had!
We are regular travellers and have been to the caribbean several times before, and have never witnessed anything as bad as this 4 star + hotel!
Our room was entered by a member of staff one evening, whilst we were out to dinner and a mobile telephone stolen. The staff did not believe us, until we proved it through the data on our electronic key pass!
A honeymoon couple had their room broken into the following night, further corroborating our incident.
The staff were unfriendly, rude, arrogant and seemed to be in a world of their own.
The management wished to investigate the theft themselves and keep the matter 'in house' until I called the police in.
The thief is still at large and my property still outstanding.
Despite us being unlucky, this hotel is still not worth its rating.
Apart from the staff, little things like carrying my own bags to my room, not enough salt and pepper on tables and repetition of food ar

Had a great holiday more due to the people that work at Escape than to hotel itself. So special thanks to, Ray for looking after us on the beach and always smiling no matter what we asked him to do, Wendell for our bar chats, Michael for our champagne cocktails, hope the foot is better, Carol Anne and Sunisha (drop off), for being the only smiling waitresses, Roger for looking after us, Cheryl for great breakfasts and lunches. Jarome on the beach for making us laugh constantly!! and Tricia at the Management Company who helped book the holiday.

This is not actually a review of the Hotel but just a notice to say that anyone who knew "Mike the Shellman" who was always present selling his shells at The Escape, died a few weeks ago of a stroke.
He will be sorely missed by all, expecially us. I always used to get him a drink everytime I got my husband and I one, it will seem very sad not getting him one the next time we go there.
RIP Mike, love Penny & Dave, we will miss you.

We stayed at the escape hotel and spa previously in april '99, enjoyed ourselves so much we decided to go back this year. Had a great time made lots of friends, nice to see that there were some familliar faces there still, Sandra, DJ Ronnie and Kenny the barman who remembered us which was really nice. Food was still really good, and entertainment too. Stayed in a garden villa room, will definately go back hopefully in a couple of years,
Special thanks to all the staff who really looked after us

"what can we say"??? WOW and AMAZING...yet another fantastic holiday, met many familiar smiley, friendly, warm and welcoming faces yet again, Sandra, Dwaine, Anderson, Gregory and Ivor to name just a few...We were visiting for the second time but this time on Honeymoon and we can honestly say we experienced no faults! Was gutted to hear the news about Noel passing away, he was a fantastic person and im sure is deeply missed by all at the Tropical Escape. The food, drink and facilities were all yet again excellent, food especially, even better if that is possible compared to 2004! Been back at work today for the first time and we are already making queries about looking at visiting again in Early 2008, maybe March or April, Tropical Escape will be our location yet again. Special thanks to Sandra who was lovely to us both and had many kind words to say. We hope to make contact soon Sandra as it would be lovely to hear from you. Reading all the reviews on this site makes me wonder if I went to the right/same hotel.Everything people say I disagree with the room was terrible the place is scruffy a little run down and lacks any class whatsever.
The food was what you would get in any hotel and was about ok.Drinks are drinks so they of course were all ok although the "after hours bar" is a complete joke.
One problem if we had survived our full stay would be the restrictions of eating in the "best" restaurant" only twice a week which when you pay for a four star you do not expect that you have restricted choice.
Overall it was a disappointing hotel and a complete refurbish would not go amiss to bring it up to a 2 star standard. The Spa pool and area was a class above the main building but who wants to be stuck across a busy road and not look out on the beautiful beach and carribean !

We visited the Escape hotel and Spa over the Christmas period. Very excited on arrival after spending nothing short of a small fortune for a holiday over this period, we were more thann diappointed. The hotel appeared extreamly dated and shabby. Not expecting this at at all as this was in the Virgin brochure I was suprised. Some of the service was friendly others were very abrupt and to the point. Execptionally diappointed in the beach - very small, sun beds all broken and very uncomfortable NO CLEAN TOWELS!!!! Not kept particularly clean for what is supposed to be an exclusive resort. Again pools not well maintained sunbeds broken. As for the food, good if you wanted to pile your plate high full of fried food!!! Not a patch on other resorts I have visted recently in Barbados. Overall, Shabby, outdated, unkept, unfriendly. Would not recommend and would not revisit a waste of money if it wasnt for the time with my family over the festive time.
Sorry for the bluntness but very true.

We have just returned fom our 2nd visit to the Escape Hotel & Spa and again we had a superb time. Our room was fantastic, the hotel was spotlessly clean at all times, the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.
On this visit we had a new addition to our family, 10 month old Hayden and the staff ensured that we were all looked after and catered for our needs tremendously, this hotel is very family friendly.
We also visited the blue monkey restaurant whilst we were there which again was fantastic the food was great.
We will be returning again as soon as we possibly can, we really didn't want to come home.
Thank you to Sandra and all of the other staff, too many to mention for another faultless stay.

can perhaps see why some people have posted negative reviews, certainly on our stay there were some parties who were just simply on the wrong place on the wrong holiday. One party's opinion was that it was not "all inclusive" but simply "full board", the logic behind this being that there was not food available 24/7. True, there wasn't, but there was never more than 2 hours between the end of one service and the beginning of the next. All drinks are included except "speciality wines" and champagne. The local brew is Banks (not Banks's!) and is perfectly quaffable. Mark on the Beach bar is or was the wine steward at the very very upmarket Cliffs restaurant, and I found the French house white nicely chilled and very drinkable. The staff are immensely helpful and friendly and "You're welcome" is the reponse every time. The rooms are perhaps a little basic, but air conditioned, clean as you like, and regularly and immaculately serviced. The food is Barbadian, not meat and two veg, and I h

THIS HOTEL LACKS NOTHING. STAYED IN A SPA ROOM. HAD TO THROW SOME TOWELS OFF TO GET SUNBEDS AS THE BRITISH (GERMANS) WERE OBVIOUSLY STAYING. WEATHER WAS FANTASTIC, 126 DEGREES IN SUN IN NOVEMBER!!! EVERYTHING WAS SO CLEAN AND THE STAFF VERY HELPFUL. RESTAURANT STAFF VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL BUT LACKED PERSONALITIES. GARDEN RESTAURANT MEALS WERE FABULOUS AS WAS THE COCKTAIL MENU. CATAMARAN CRUISE SUPPLIED BY HOTEL WAS BRILLIANT AND NOT TO BE MISSED...SWIMMING WITH TURTLES. IF YOU ARE GOING TO BARBADOS, THIS HOTEL IS A GUARANTEED MUST FOR QUALITY AND CLEANLINESS AND FACILITIES AND EXTRA TOUCHES AND AND AND AND.......

Great stay at the hotel.A sea view villa with a balcony was our home for a week ( VILLA 6 ) no complaints whatsoever. The great meals and drinks were all served by really friendly staff and what seemed like the hotels own private, gorgeous beech was fab.The pool, spa and first class Garden Resteraunt across the road could be used by guests, although the beautiful pool and sunbathing area was really difficult to find available plces.Would we stay there again,....Cant wait..

Checked in 4thNov and checked out the 5th.
The staff were fantastic in contacting the Virgin representative who wasted no time in getting my wife and i out of there! The Hotel, enviroment and food were awful, the bathroom was just unpleasant, this is not a 4 star hotel, the wording on the website page is deceptive!as are the photos!DO NOT GO THERE!

This was our second visit this year. We had a week in July and 2 weeks at the start of October and stayed in a Spa room on both occassions,it comfortable and Pauline the maid excellent. The swimming pool and spa well maintained.
The restaurants both Garden and Sea Breeze give a good selection of food. The staff in both working hard to please the guests.
Michael and all the bar staff give good friendly service and keep the drinks flowing.
Well Done to everyone at the Hotel for making the stay so enjoyable. See you all again soon

We have just returned from the Escape and Spa Hotel, I would recommend anyone who is visiting Barbados to go to this Hotel.
Rooms.............
We upgraded to a superior room and it was an excellent choice, we had brilliant views looking at at the beach and the sea.Bed was massive.
Food and Drink............
The food was really good and so was the choice of cocktails.
Linda makes wicked Pizzas, omelettes, poached eggs etc.
The chefs were really friendly and helpful.
Staff...........
Most of the staff at the hotel are brilliant, Sandra, Prudence, Kimberley, La Toya, Wendel, Ronnie, Ray, Robert Riley.
Some of the staff are miserable, but they didnt spoil our holiday. They are trying to train the staff to be more friendly.
Beach..........
The beach was really nice, the first time you set foot on the beach people are trying to get you to :-
Go on a trip round Barbados (Mr Payne)
Buy jewelery (Sam the man)
Buy Aloe Vera.
Just tell them No a few times and they will leave you

We have only just returned from Barbados i.e. Wednesday 4th Oct and have to say we have a fantastic holiday staying at Escape Hotel and Spa. The room we had was lovely and we felt the food was cooked just right and so well presented. The staff do make you feel welcome and made us feel we had known them for years. They do know how to make you relaxed and just enjoy your holiday. It is always nice when people remember your name and what you like to drink and that is what happens at the Escape. My husband enjoyed playing beach cricket virtually every night with guests, staff and locals. The Spa area was just so relaxing - it was nice to be able to read and chill out. We would definitely go back to Escape and definitely go with Virgin holidays. The holiday was just what we needed after a busy/stressful time at work and it’s thanks to the fact the hotel is small but not too small and the staff like Michael and Sandra make you feel you are part of a family and not just another touris

Firstly you are right about the moment you step off the exclusive transfer bus! it was in fact a transit van!when it came to return us to the airport and only catered for eleven people although there was over twenty of us it took several buses to take us all.And took over an hour to get to the hotel initially, the hotel and spa are lovely but the noise of the frogs is unbearable, you are lucky if you get room service, and there is no waiter service in the spa area, the bar opens between 10.30 and eleven. No sign of any beach volleyball it's not big enough to get everyone on the beach on beds let alone play games.
We actually went to this particular hotel as my son was getting married out in Barbados and I must say it was a fabulous day the wedding co-ordinator and photographers where first class well done!it made it all worth it but would not visit the island again the locals selling their goods on the beach is a nuisance. The afternoon tea is terrible, the sandwiches are warm if your luc

I returned from my holiday about 2 months ago, it is defintiely one of the best ever!! The staff are so lovely and will do anything to make sure you have a good time, especially Wendell, Albert and Sandra! It's a great place to meet friends and relax. The food was really good and the place itself was beautiful. The nights were also really good!! One of the highlights was the boat trip where we got to swim with turtles. We all had a really good time and everyone got on really well. Was really sad to go home, hopefully we'll return again in the future!! Thanks for a lovely holiday xx p.s just a quick hello to all the people we met: Sam! Dan, Jimmy, Gordon, Gary, William, Sian, Winsten, Keith, Dr Tan and all the others i'll never forget you!! xx

i loved this holiday, i would go back now if i had the chance to, wendell was an abusolute ledgend over in the after hours bar sitting with me,dan, bianca and the rest, chatting to us like he had known us for years, he really did make my holiday. they say there isnt much to do for young children which is true but fot teens its a fab experience. Albert the guard made me chuckle at the best of times, great guy. the music and entertainment was always good, always good music playing, bernard ws lovely, was nice to have someone so relaxed to go down to dinner and be escorted by. im sure i will be going back there very soon, because bianca and i, the girl i met on holiday really miss the place!!!.... the wedding that was held while i was there, was our friends the scots wedding and it was perfect, they all looked stunning and it was handled beutifully by all the staff!!! love the place and cant wait to come back.xXx

we had a fantastic honeymoon at the escape, the food was amazing, especially the garden restaurant,if you get a chance try the sandridge hotel for an exchange meal which is also free! although our room was flooded twice and we were moved three times it didn't spoil anything because we were given lot's of champagne and honor and sandra were extremely appologetic and helpful, we would definitley reccomend the garden villas for a romantic break with the use of a private pool.we really enjoyed michael's company who went out of his way to make our holiday unforgettable!!!!

We have just returned today from our 7th visit to The Escape H&S. The hotel is still really good, the food was excellent, as was the service from all the staff in the hotel and on the beach. I would like to thank Sandra, Kenny, Ronnie and Ray for making this visit so good.
I feel I should mention that one lunch time the restaurant had been very busy and at one point ran out of a couple of dishes of food - these were quickly replenished - but not quick enough for a couple of guests, who thought the end was nigh!!! "Theres no potatoes" was one comment!!
The selection of food was fantastic, something to suit everyone.
The hotel is being painted and looks very good.
We will be going back again, definitely.

This was my first trip to the carribean and it definitely left a lasting impression. My husband & myself got married at the hotel & had my mum, dad & sister with us as guests - we all had a fantastic time. We stayed in a deluxe room in the main building which was definitely worth the extra - waking up to the waves crashing just below us every day was amazing, this to me truely was paradise.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were really friendly. The wedding itself was relaxed and personal and highly recommended.
The birds at breakfast were annoying, but outwith the control of the staff, so not a huge grievance. Occassionally the service was a bit slow at the bar....but so was the whole of Barbados! Relaxation! Cant wait to go back!

I'm a bit late in telling you about this lovely Hotel. Being just Divorced I was looking for a place that I would not feel out of place, and as this was the first time I had been to Barbados,I was a little concerned, but my brother and his partner had been to your Hotel before they recommended that I give it a try. The staff were really lovely and helpful especially Sandra the Manager. The accommodation was excellant, as was the food and entertainment. The beach was lovely and safe for swimming and had no problems with the locals who approached me for a chat, and were not offended if I did not want to buy anything or take up their offers of boat trips.My only moan is about the spa side of the hotel, the pool is excellent, the spa and staff are wonderfull, as is the restaurant and after hours bar, BUT the people who stay in the villas and rooms over there, seem to think they own this area of the hotel solely for their exclusive use, reserving lounge’s ALL day or leaving empty {single}

We have tried other hotels in different parts of the Caribbean but always come back to Escape. It is a very relaxed and friendly hotel with good standards of food and accommodation. But most of all, the staff are so helpful and friendly, especially Sandra.
We are due back for our sixth visit at the end of August.

Not a four star hotel and hence we were fairly disappointed when we arrived. The rooms were very large and clean and the view over the ocean was fantastic, however we found a lot of items throughout the hotel were 'out of order'. The jets in the whirlpool, equipment in the gym, water machine in steam room, the toilet in the bedroom kept blocking and flooding (despite asking reception, nothing was done to fix) and lift was constantly not in use. The beach was a huge disappointment, we expected a larger beach with white sandy beach (as advised by the Virgin call centre). The food in the seascape restuarant was beautiful, however didn't expect chipped and dirty dishes at a four star hotel! The birds at morning time are very off putting. When we arrived on 17/07/06, the staff in the resturant were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, but by the second week they all seemed really unhappy and the service deterioted. We were also disappointed that some of the advertised entert

Hotel was nice, the food gorgeous and the Staff were very friendly, happy and the service they provided an excellent service. This hotel is fantastic for couples but not much to do for children. My favourites were Honor, Junior all of reception, janice and Stacey but having said that they were all wonderful in their own way.
Would I go back.......YES.

We returned from this property 2 days ago, we had a fantastic time !!! we are so sad to be back home now. The hotel was really nice, the food was outstanding, something different everyday. The staff were great, very helpful indeed. Special thanks to NOEL, CHONDELLE, KEVIN AND IVOR. If you go to this hotel you must taste one of noel's coctails !!!
The atmosphere was so chilling, it was just total relaxation. We are hoping to go back again as we enjoyed it that much.
I would also advise anybody to go here.
Our overall commments are thanks for a great time !! Two weeks of heaven

My husband and i got married at the hotel back in September 2000 and had a fantastic time. We stayed in a deluxe room in the main building and to wake up to that view is the best thing in the world. The hotel is ideal for people wanting a chilled out holiday who enjoy good food. The food was amazing, we never had a baf meal. Since our visit to Escape, we have been travelling around to other destinations but so far nothing has beaten Escape and it is the only hotel we will definitely return to.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday then the Escape & Spa is for you. Great beach, good food, friendly staff and a place to meet new friends. The hotel is in a quiet location with very little around it but if you want noise and bars then the buses stop just outside the door and its a great service. The only problem is the birds at breakfast time. But if you can tolerate a few feathered friends wanting to share your breakfast you'll have a great holiday

We have just returned from Escape Hotel where we got married on 16th March. We could not have wished for a more special or romantic wedding day. The staff were excellent as usual and special thanks to Cherry Anne for the help and organisation of our dream wedding and also to Sandra who was such a great help as always. This was our 4th stay at Escape and we have just booked to go back next year to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. Once again many thanks.

This was our second visit to Escape. We had went the year before, got engaged there and came back on honeymoon. The best time of our lives. The hotel staff, especially Sandra made our trips extra special. The food was terrific in both restuarants and the atmosphere just made you feel part of the Escape Family. Cant wait to get back to the "Jewel in the Carribean Sea" with our baby daughter so she can experience it for herself.

This Hotel is excellent situated just across the road (no problem) from Paynes Bay one of the best beaches in Barbados. The Blue Monkey Bar and restaurant is great addition.
West Coast beach offers good snorkelling on coral reef plus many large turtles and use of hobie cat.
Hotel staff great, food brill, rooms good.
We have revisited this Hotel on several occassions. There is a small development opposite but this is now well advanced and did not distract from our holiday.

Accomadation ok. Had to be moved as pool was being refurbished outside out window with no privacy.
Food was good but served with dis interest from staff. Only one bar which was totally inadiquate, room for about ten people and less when it rained. Also totally understaffed. Pirates could easily have been adapted.
Pool and bar area was very shabby and needed a total revamp for a three star complex.
Many of the watersports equipment was broken and not availiable for most of our stay.
Entertainment was generally poor in comparison to other local hotels.
Luckily we met several very nice people there
which helped to soften our disapointment.

THERE IS NO WAY THIS HOTEL CAN CLAIM TO BE 4* AND AFTER OUR RECENT VISIT I'M SURE THAT VIRGIN HOLIDAYS WILL OMIT THE HOTEL FROM THEIR BROCHURE FOR THE FUTURE. THE BARBADOS TOURIST BOARD ONLY GIVES THIS HOTEL 2.5* AND THAT IS GENEROUS. YOU PAY FOR ALL INCLUSIVE AND UP-GRADE TO DELUXE ROOM WHERE A MINI-BAR IS INCLUDED FOR THE ADDITIONAL EXPENSE BUT ONLY THE SOFT DRINKS GET TOPPED UP. BREAKFAST IS A SHAMBLES, YOU COLLECT YOUR BREAKFAST BUT THEN TRY FINDING EITHER A MEMBER OF THE RESTAURANT STAFF OR CUTLERY, HAVING OVER COME THAT HURDLE YOU ORDER TEA OR COFFEE IT ARRIVES - NO CUPS OR SAUCERS - OFF YOU GO AGAIN IN SEARCH YOU CAN'T CALL THIS ALL INCLUSIVE. WE VISTED LAST YEAR WHEN THERE WAS AN ABUNDANCE OF STAFF & SERVICE WAS GOOD. NOW ITS RUN DOWN< THE LIFT DID'NT WORK FOR TEN OF THE FOURTEEN DAYS AND THEN TO TOP IT ALL THEY START TO DEMOLISH THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL AND EXPECT TO CARRY ON AS THOUGH NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. RICHARDSON BRANSON SHOULD VISIT BUT HE WON'T STAY. YOU PROBABLY REALISE

We had a beautiful holiday here, the scenery, the people, the food, the music, everything was perfect and we think Escape At The Gap, was "PARADISE"!

We stayed at the Escape Hotel and Spa in September 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and will go out of their way to assist you with any queries you have. Food is outstanding with a wide choice available through the three sittings per day on offer. The hotel is situated on a secluded bit of beach with plenty of sun loungers for all guests. Entertainment is low key, ideal for those wishing for a relaxing holiday away from the daily stresses we all encounter back in our hectic part of the world. Well recommended and we will definitely be visiting again!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the hotel and we had the most amazing time. We could not fault anything! The staff were so helpful and we were treated so well. The food was great and we would highly recommend a stay there, we would like to think we will return one day.

we booked this hotel for our wedding and family holiday too. The Deluxe room was excellant and the staff especially Sandra were brillant too. Our wedding day couldn't have gone any better and we finished the evening at the Garden restuarant which was a lovely end to our special day. The food was always at a very good standard all through our holiday and the hotel and facilties were always clean and tidy at all times. We will come back again and highly recommend the Escape Hotel & Spa to everybody!!

we stayed here for the first time and it was excelent. the managers and staff were the best we have ever had in a hotel. nothing was too much trouble. the only problem we encountered was the early morning rush to get sun beds with umbrella's, The first few days we did not put our towels down on the beds as the hotel asked you not to do it but haveing tried later on in the day to get an umbrella we took to rushing down early in the morning to do it. still we will be booking for next year for our ruby wedding anniversary.

Just returned from a brilliant time at the Escape Hotel and spa. We had a garden villa room (5003) and it was in a great location, brilliant view and use of a private small pool. Food at the Escape was very good and different everyday. Spa meals grt too!!! Beach small and watersports really good. At breakfast and lunch it would get a bit annoying with the birds and bird mess! so dont feed any birds!!!!!!!!
Staff helpful. We hired a car and travelled around Barbados and had a great day. A lovely holiday

Just returned from a fantastic holiday at Escape Hotel and Spa. Food was first class, staff extremely pleasant and helpful, (especially Sandra, Wendell and Anthony), met lots of great people. Special thanks to Sandra who organised taxis, etc and was full of great tips and information on where to go and what to do.

Escape was ok but they could make it alot better, our floor in my room was always dirty and the curtains were brken the staff didnt seem happy and not very helpfull my cousin got bitten alive because he stayed in a villa with no windows. The childrens pool was horrible and dirty and gave me an extremely painful ear infection.

It was our first visit to this hotel previously staying at tropical escape for a number of years. The staff, food and hotel were excellent. We have booked again, and will be returning later this year. Special thanks to Sandra - shes great. It you want some added luxuries, book a deluxe room, you will pay a bit more for it but it is worth it.

We have had 2 wonderful holidays at Escape int he pastand have just booked to return in August this year and we can't wait. My 13 year old son is looking foward to meeting up with some of guys that work in the water sports team who really looked after him and taught him to sail last year, nothing was too much trouble, although I have heard Tony has left which is a real shame, he really knew how to make sure people enjoyed themselves, we are also hoping that Prudence and Ash are still around as they are so much fun and great with kids. can't wait to see Sandra, Honor, Darian and Kenny, and the rest of the Escape team.

Our 6th Terrific holiday as usual at this hotel.
Disappointed by some of the cut backs ie No Catamaran, no bottle of rum and the blue towels were a bit on the rough side, specially if you were burnt. These cut backs may be due to the Virgin influence and the need to keep the prices competitive.
Nice to see the red wine had improved.
As usual the staff were superb in sorting out any problems that arose. Sandra and all the staff are to be commended for their interest and attention to detail.
We recommend the hotel particularly for adult couples

This is not entirely true - it's been somewhere between ok and terrible. Many of us have complained in the last few days. We have had to put up with major sewage works with the accompaniment of a pneumatic drill (at one day's notice) to enhance the joy of our holiday coupled with the discourteous and nonchalant attitude of the majority of the staff. There is a painted "Welcome" sign on the reception desk - we've never felt less so in our entire lives. A couple who were there in January 2005 loved it so much they have now visited again but can't believe how much it has deteriorated. We're all glad to be home - not the sentiments we should feel at all!
